Step 1 : Have an iPhone. Make sure you have OS 3.0
Step 2: Jailbreak iPhone - Follow exact instructions here: http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4448
Step 3: Enter Cydia on the iPhone, go to manage, go to sources, click edit (top right), click add (top left) and type : http://cydia.hackulo.us/ (see screenshot) . Ignore Cydia’s silly warnings
Step 4: click search (bottom right), type in ‘installous’. The only result you should get is ‘Installous’(see screenshot). Click this and press ‘install’ (top right)
Step 5: click search again, type in ‘appsync’. The only result you should get is ‘AppSync’(see screenshot). Click this and press install
Step 6: Exit Cydia, and click the new installous icon. Click settings (bottom right). Change ‘Install Method’ to dirty. Toggle ‘iTunes Sync’ to On
Step 7: Download the tomtom app here: http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/125959037/tomtom+canada?tab=summary http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5058125/TomTom_US__amp__Canada_for_iPhone . Step 8: Drag the app you just downloaded into iTunes
Step 9: Plug your iphone into your computer, it should now sync the app. this can take up to 40 minutes
Step 10: Unplug iPhone and run the tomtom app!

During the syncing process on iTunes, it says “installing Tomtom…” However, halfway through the progress bar, it just disconnects.
The iPhone still shows “syncing in progress,” but on iTunes, my iPhone device disappears (like it disconnected).
I tried it 3Xs already, and it keeps getting disconnected. I am using WIN XP.

Okay so i downloaded the tomtom app and it went smoothly and now it sits in the application library of my itunes. When I try to put the app on my iphone it says “Are you sure you want to sync applications? All existing apps will be replaced.” I have many preloaded apps from cydia/installous on my iphone I do not want to lose. How can I put it on there without losing everything else I have? Please Help
James, the reasoning behind me pirating this is not because I’m out to rip anybody off, but that having TomTom on my phone just isn’t worth $50 for me. I wouldn’t be buying it whether or not I could pirate it, but I can- so why not? It may come in handy once in a blue moon. It’s not really a lost sale for TomTom as I wasn’t going to be purchasing it anyway.
I dragged the downloaded app (.rar file) into the itunes folder. Even though iphone has an appsync installed, the app is not getting installed on my iphone. Advice please.
James, you’re right about what u said but some people save a Lot of money to buy the iPhone or the iPod touch and some people really cannot afford to but an app for 50 dollars but they still want it. And this blog provides these people a way to get them for free. I don’t think you should get mad about this and yes the companies who made this make millions everyday. That’s why they don’t bother to track down someone who is pirating a 50 dollar product.

holy fuck this actually worked! I thought i was going to have a million problems getting this to work but worked just as explained. I just put it on my ipod touch 2nd gen. with 4.0 firmware. use WinRAR from downloads.com works good to extract all .RAR files into one file before putting it on itunes. select them all then push extract to a folder then drag to itunes. thanks man for the tutorial

PS I work at a software company and economy is so bad all of our costs went up so we had to lay a lot of people off and cut salaries. We recently had thousands of people figure out a way to steal our work. We worked so hard to make these products! Do you know of a way we can track the people who are now getting our work for free? We can’t afford to pay a staff to do it. (do you know how we can hire back all those people who we laid off who are now on welfare? Ipod arrives tomorrow (3gs with unknown firmware) and i want to do this before setting up my contacts etc. I know how to jailbreak, but is it easy/self explanatory to put UK maps in place of the USA ones?
